I had the opportunity to listen to Twitter Tuesday, a blog talk radio show hosted by Jason Crouch and Ken Cook. Yesterday's special guest was Mike Mueller (tech geek), Mike shared interesting tips and advice on using LinkedIn.
Later I took Mike's tips and headed over to LinkedIn, well one click lead to another and I found LinkedIn Mobile. To me that was the coolest thing, I now can access the MLS, update Twitter, Facebook and view updates on LinkedIn all on my Blackberry. Nice!
Here is how to leverage the LinkedIn Network when you are not at your computer. With your Blackberry or iPhone navigate to m.linkedin.com, type in your email and password. That takes you to your LinkedIn homepage, which displays a list of categories to choose from.
You can search, view your updates, view your contacts and here is something that I think is very useful. Let's say your at a networking event or conference, you make a connection and exchange business cards. Now rather then having to remember to add them to your database you simply ask; are you on LinkedIn, can we connect? Go to LinkedIn Mobile, click on the invite button, add their email address, a little personal note and Viola! They are now part of your LinkedIn network.
I hope you enjoy this LinkedIn tip!
I am always so amazed at what I learn from being a part of the ActiveRain network, it's like CE education on steroids :)

Linked In has a nice iPhone app too.
How have you found linkedIn? I find it a little cumbersome to use. You have to have way to much information to connect with someone. As apposed to facebook or something like that where you just need a name and you can friend request.
Just curious to hear your opinion on LinkedIn. Do find the same thing? Do you find a lot of people are using it? What are some of the perks to linked over facebook etc.
Cheers!
Chris - the more I am learning about LinkedIn the easier I'm finding it to use. I like the fact that it's geared more towards professionals, posts from your blog appear on your profile. Can be your CRM.
Maria,
I must say, I am over whelmed by all the different networking sites. Do you really think they help?
Richard
I am sorry, I am up to date on computers but not always the lingo. What does CRM mean? Thanks Maria.
Cheers!
Maria – Thanks for the mention! I wish we could have spent a couple of days on LinkedIn and not just 15 min.
: (
The biggest thing for most that I teach is that they look at it as either a Rolodex or as a dysfunctional Social Network. It's neither. For those that I teach, it becomes an ocean of leads from which to cast their net. Those that setup half a profile there and then forget about it - miss the boat.
Hey that was two mixed oceanic metaphors in a row! (All puns attended)
: )
BTW: As a BB Curve owner I love most all mobile apps (except LinkedIn) for me it's a place to go farming and that's best done on a regular computer.
PS: You have one more link you could be using on your LinkedIn Profile (and if you have a WP blog you could pull all your posts over with th WP Application)
Richard - I have made connections that I would not have, had I not been involved on the Social Networking sites.
Chris - It means: Contact Resource Management
Hi Mike - Thanks for stopping by! The thing I like most about mobile is the ability to add an individual after you have make the face to face connection. I don't have WP, but I did add bloglog.
Thanks Maria. Have a great day.
Cheers!
